Education programmes
Methodist Social Services has been offering education programmes to the people of Palmerston North and outlying districts since the 1970s. We currently offer programmes for children and their parents/caregivers, personal development courses for adults and we host a wide variety of professional development workshops for community workers, counsellors, educators, social workers and parents. Our aim is to impart skills and knowledge to people in a supportive environment, enabling them to make positive changes in their lives. We employ experienced, dedicated tutors from a range of backgrounds to facilitate our courses, constantly looking to upgrade their skills for the benefit of participants in our programmes. We provide a small group learning situation usually with groups of no more than 10 participants. Resource booklets are also provided which participants can keep for future reference. Our aims is to keep our courses ‘user friendly’, explaining things in ways that are easy to understand, encouraging participants to ask questions, and providing any support and guidance that is needed.
